Student Activities
Dogwood Choir
What is Choir?
This is an extra-curricular choir for fourth and fifth grade students who enjoy singing. There are no auditions and any interested student may join.
Students in the choir can expect to sing music in a variety of styles. The performance repertoire will include songs from many different cultures and also songs of a seasonal nature. Students will learn choral singing techniques and other musical skills that will prepare them for future musical endeavors such as Middle School Choir, Band, and Orchestra. The Dogwood Choir will have many opportunities to perform for both the school and community.
How to participate?
Students in the choir will practice before school from 7:00-7:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please be aware that students with more than three unexcused rehearsal absences will be asked to leave, or have a serious conversation about leaving, Dogwood Dynamix. Attendance is important for success in this ensemble. The student is excused from choir if they have an excused school absence or a doctor’s note for the morning of the rehearsal.
If you are interested in joining, please see Ms. Talton in the music room or fill out this Google Form in order to get a permission slip and pass.
Safety Patrol
Safety Patrol is a club offered to 5th graders at the beginning of the second 9 weeks and 4th graders at the start of second semester. Students in Safety Patrol help during morning and afternoon car rider duty. They help greet students and open car doors once they stop at the front of our school for the car rider line. For their safety, they wear a reflective vest, stand by a cone, and are supervised by our staff. Safety Patrol students apply for this position, are interviewed, and are held to a high standard. Please see or contact Mrs. Pennington.
